WEEK OF DEC 10-14

Sorry for not have the BLOG done for last week.  As some of you know, I was out dealing with a family crisis.  My father-in-law has been battling pancreatic cancer now for three years.  His battle is close to an end.  He is at home surrounded by loved ones, and he is being kept comfortable.  I hope to be in school all this week, but we are having to play it by ear.  Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

ENGLISH - Work on lesson 10.  Quiz Wednesday on lessons 8, 9, and 10.  Work on lessons 11, 12, and 13.  Quiz Friday on lessons 11, 12, and 13.  Next week we will do lessons 14 and 15, with the final quiz being on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

SPIRAL - I just gave Spiral #13 today (Monday).  It will still be due on Thursday.

WORD LY WISE - We will still work with Lesson 6.  Test will not be until TUESDAY, Dec. 18.

RELIGION - Finish the Jesse Tree and work on Advent activities.  Jesse Tree test will be Tuesday, Dec. 18.  This test WILL NOT be open packet.  Students must be able to match the ornament to its correct definition.  They have a paper with all the ornaments and definitions.

WEEK OF NOV 26-30

Monday-Friday - Book Drive
Wednesday - Friday - Book Fair

ENGLISH - Criterion Writing Monday and Tuesday.  Please talk to your child about Criterion Writing -  he/she can fill you in!  On Wednesday, we will start Unit 3 - Verbs.  We will move quickly through verbs, so please work with your child at home of you see any problems.  Also, we will NOT have a big unit test.  Instead, I am breaking it down into smaller quizzes. This week we will cover Lessons 1 and 2, with a quiz on Friday.  We will also do Lessons 3 and 4.  That quiz will be Tuesday of next week.

WORDLY WISE - No lesson this week.  We will start Lesson 6 next week.

RELIGION - Chapter 7.  Open packet quiz Friday.

WEEK OF NOV 5-9

Monday - Library day with Ms. Viator
Tuesday - NO BUSES!!  Early dismissal 12:15
Friday - Class Mass 8:00 and Progress Reports

ENGLISH - We will create a Fall themed cinquain poem. 

WORDLY WISE - Lesson 5 test Nov. 13

RELIGION - We will complete our Saint poster in class this week.  Also, we will work on one of our service projects - Veterans' Day cards for veterans in our state medical facilities.

Friday - Fire drill, Pep Rally and Treat Day

RELIGION - Saint name due Tuesday.  FRIDAY - Mystery quiz and poster information/material due.  We will work on and complete posters IN CLASS on Monday and Tuesday.

ENGLISH - Noun lessons 5 and 6.  Chart quiz Friday.  Unit 2 Noun test Nov. 2.

WORDLY WISE - Reviewing lessons 1-4. 

RELIGION - Rosary - Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous Mysteries.  We will have a guidance lesson on Tuesday.  Also, I will be assigning a Saint poster this week.  We will complete this in class.  Mysteries of the Rosary test will be Nov. 2  NOT OPEN BOOK!!!

WORDLY WISE - Lesson 4.  We will go over words, parts of speech, definitions, and sentences on Monday.  Complete ALL exercises by Friday.  Quiz on Thursday, Oct. 11.

RELIGION - Finishing Chapter 4.  Open book/open packet quiz Tuesday or Wednesday.  Start Ch 5.

WEEK OF SEPT 4-7

Due to the hurricane, I am sticking with last weeks lesson plans. 

ENGLISH - Working with subjects/predicates.  Graded paper Thursday on lessons 1-6 of Unit 1.  Spiral #2 due Sept 6.

WORDLY WISE - Lesson 2.  This week the students need to complete all parts of the workbook (parts A, B, C, D, and E)  We did this together for Lesson 1, so they may need your help to complete.  ALL PARTS will be due and checked on Friday.  Lesson 2 test will be Thursday, September 13th.

RELIGION - Finishing up Chapter 2.  Chapter 2 open book/open packet quiz Friday.

WEEK OF AUG 20-24

Tuesday - First set of STP's go home.  Due Thursday
Friday - Class Mass (8:00)  Please be on time for school!! (7:45)

Week of Aug. 13-17

Welcome to Mrs. Viator's English and Religion BLOG!!

Thanks to all of you for making the first few days of school such a success.  I think we all left here  Friday with smiles on our faces, and I KNOW we are ready for Monday!  I enjoyed meeting so many of you at Open House Sunday afternoon, and hope to get to know you all better in the upcoming months. 

I will be posting on this BLOG every week to allow all to see what we will be covering within the week.  I will post any test/projects, as well as basic information on what Unit/Chapter we are covering.  I WILL NOT post daily assignments.  Daily assignments are always written on the board for the students to copy in the assignment pad.  We do have a test calendar in the hallway for the students to see any upcoming tests in a subjects.

ENGLISH - We will discuss questions to ask yourself to find subject, verb, adverb, direct object, and object of the preposition.  We will then begin with prepositions.   I am thinking we will have a short quiz on prepositions Friday, Aug, 17.  Spiral #1 will be handed out on Thursday, Aug. 16, and it will be due on Thursday, Aug. 23. 

WORDLY WISE - We will start Unit 1 Monday.  I will complete each section with the class.  Unit 1 test will be Aug. 23
